Dean Collins
Managing Partner at Dechert (Singapore) Pte LtdDean Collins is recognized as one of the foremost private equity lawyers in Asia and worldwide, being named in the most recent "The Legal Power 30," Private Equity International's list of the thirty most influential private equity lawyers in the world. He is the only lawyer based in Southeast Asia named to the list. Mr. Collins has been recognized by Chambers Asia Pacific with a Band 1 ranking for fund formation work for each of the past 14 years.
Mr. Collins counsels clients on the structuring and establishment of private equity investment funds, secondary transactions, carried interest and co-investment plans, team spin-outs, co-investments and other private equity related transactions. Mr. Collins has led some of the highest-profile and ground-breaking transactions in the market including:
• advising Capital Square Partners (CSP) on the close of a c.US$700 million fund and the acquisition of portfolio assets from certain funds managed by two private equity firms, CSP and Basil Technology Partners
• an Asian financial institution on the disposal of a ‘mega-portfolio’ of 95 Limited Partnership interests to a secondaries fund, in the largest ever secondaries transaction globally
• Primavera Capital on the establishment of several private equity funds, including their fourth fund which achieved final closing in excess of US$4 billion and won “Fundraising of the Year – Large Cap” at the Asian Private Equity & Venture Capital Awards 2023 by the AVCJ
• Dymon Asia on the recent establishment of their third private equity fund which achieved its hard cap of US$650m
• Genesis Alternatives on the establishment of Southeast Asia’s first ever venture debt fund.
Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Collins worked at Actis, the leading pan-emerging markets private equity firm, as an in-house lawyer and then as a Director in its highly regarded fundraising team.
Amit Gupta
Founding Partner at TPG Capital (S) Pte. Ltd. (TPG NewQuest)Amit is a founding Partner of TPG NewQuest, based in Singapore, and oversees the India and Southeast Asia business. Amit has more than 20 years of industry experience.
Prior to co-founding TPG NewQuest, he was a Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch's (BAML) Asia Private Equity group where he led the India business and oversaw investments the energy and financial services sectors across the Asia Pacific region. Amit has also served in other roles in BAML, including Corporate Principal Investments based in Hong Kong and Investment Banking based in Mumbai.
Prior to working at BAML, Amit was a software engineer based in Mumbai and the United States. Amit has an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, where he was placed on the Director's Merit List for his performance, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from REC Kurukshetra, where he received the University gold medal. Amit is fluent in English and Hindi.
Jason Kardachi
Managing Director of Kroll Singapore Pte. Ltd.Jason Kardachi is a Managing Director based in the Singapore office and leads the firm’s restructuring and insolvency work in Southeast Asia and South Asia. Jason has led and managed complex debt restructurings and turnarounds, liquidations and receiverships and provided practical and commercial solutions to key stakeholders.
Jason also leads the firm’s Fund Solutions services, which provides advisory and discretionary asset management services for illiquid or distressed investments, including divestments, rationalizing management cost structures, restructuring single investments, or portfolio realizations.
Jason is the founding member of the TMA Southeast Asia ("SEA") chapter and is the first President of the regional TMA chapter. He was recently awarded the TMA International Chapter Impact Award 2019, and is the first practitioner outside of the United States to have received an Individual award since the launch of the TMA Awards in 1993.
Jason is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide. Jason is also a CIMA registered director.
Alex Lim
Vice President at AlpInvest Partners LimitedAlex Lim is a Vice President in AlpInvest Secondary Investment team covering Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining AlpInvest, he worked at Apollo Global Management, where he was a Private Equity Associate focused on evaluating and executing real estate transactions across the capital structure. Previously, he worked at Gaw Capital Partners focused on Asia Pacific real estate acquisitions. Alex started his career in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs focused on M&A and corporate finance advisory. He graduated with First Class Honors in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
